Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a point of displaying his athletic side this summer. In Japan, meeting with a local judo club, he first flipped a sparring partner, then was lipped himself. Then, in Kamchatka, before excoriating local leaders for the poor state of the economy in the region, he skied down a volcano, pronouncing the region one of the most beautiful places he had ever been. In June, while touring Tatarslan, Putin took on a local female arm wrestling champion. Putin won the contest, needless to say.
