LOCAL singer Ning Baizura will be sharing the spotlight with Hong Kong heart-throb Aaron Kwok Fu-Shing at the Oasis Boulevard in Sunway Pyramid at 6.45pm today.

Kwok is in town to promote his film, Throw Down, which is about a former judo master who has to face his foes from the past.

Selangor Judo Association (SJA) ambassador Ning, with the help of exponents, will be demonstrating "gentle" techniques on tackling bigger- sized assailants.

SJA secretary Susan Cheah, who is a third Dan holder (the top woman in Malaysia), will also be present to render advice and offer tips on self- defence techniques.

During the event, SJA will also be selling the Throw Down Special Edition Self-Defence for Women booklets.

The booklets are jointly sponsored by movie distributor Audio One Entertainer and Wrigley's Chewing Gum.

Each booklet will be sold at RM5, with SJA using the proceeds to provide free self-defence classes to the public.

It will also help support Malaysian judo exponents taking part in the Athens Paralympic Games in September.

Kwok is scheduled to make his appearance at 8.45pm.

He will also be at Twelve SI, Jalan Sultan Ismail, for the launch party of Throw Down, which kicks off at 9pm today.

Throw Down, directed by the award-winning Johnnie To, also stars Louis Koo, Tony Leung Kar Fai, Cherie Ying and Jordan Chan.

It is scheduled for nationwide release on July 8.
