Three people have been appointed or reappointed to the Minnesota Combative Sports Commission by Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Michelle Gravenish of Bloomington was appointed to the commission. She is a senior manager of database marketing with Select Comfort Corp. in Minneapolis and was a college judo champion; she has worked as a timekeeper, official, inspector and judge for martial arts events. Gary Brintnall of Burnsville, an assistant director of taxes for Canadian Pacific Railway, was reappointed to the commission. He has trained at Combat Jujitsu School in Minneapolis and has been a member of the commission since 2007, serving as its vice chairman in 2008. Robert A. Stein of Minnetonka, a senior consultant with Teleplus Consulting in Minneapolis, also was reappointed. He has 30 years of sports experience as a competitor and senior executive, including serving as president and CEO of the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise and eight years as a linebacker with the National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs. The commission supervises and regulates all boxing and tough person contests in Minnesota. It consists of nine members, all appointed by the governor.
